Maybe it is one of the most unknown works of the modernist architect, Antoni Gaudí. It was the first project ordered by Eusebi Güell, who later asked him to build one of his most famous works, the Park Güell.
The building was inaugurated in 1890 as the residence of Güell’s family. In it, the architect built a rather sober facade, which contrasted with the “trencadís” chimneys on the roof. It is a monument that shows all the talent that Gaudí had to show to Barcelona.

Since 1973 Barcelona has had a Wax Museum located on the Rambla and close to the Port. The building, however, was built in 1867 to be the headquarters of the Bank of Barcelona.

Boqueria’s market is one of the most visited places and the main attraction of the Rambla.
It was built on top of the San José de los Carmelitas convent, which was burned down in 1835. In fact, the market retains the name of San José, although it is commonly called “La Boqueria”.
Inside the market there are more than 300 stalls, and it has become a gastronomic reference point. In 2005 it won the award for Best Market in the World at the World Markets Congress celebrated in Washington (USA).
